Hi, I'm Emily!

I'm a young nature enthusiast and writer living in rural Warwickshire. I enjoy photographing my local wildlife, wildflowers and fungi - I share my photos on Instagram, Twitter and Vero. I am particularly fascinated by corvids, having rehabilitated a fledgling jackdaw last year. This comes through in my writing, including my piece To The Roost which won the Young Wild Writer Competition, Hen Harrier Fest 2022 and my poem Jackdaw Gifts which was awarded First Place in Guernsey Lit Fest's Young People's International Competition 2022.

My other writing highlights are:

- Warwickshire Young Poet Laureate 2022/23

- First Place, Stratford Lit Fest's Young Poets' Competition 2022

- First Place in WEM Solstice Prize 2021

- First Place in Guernsey Lit Fest's Young People's Category 2021

- Highly Commended in Live Canon's Young Writers' Competition 2021 and 2022

- Second Place, East Riding Festival of Words Poetry Competition 2022

- Second Place, Shepton Mallet Snowdrop Festival's Young Poets' Competition 2023

- Best Nature Poem, Betjeman Poetry Prize 2019.

I have also had articles published in Conker Nature Magazine, Love Wild Gardens Magazine, the Stratford Herald and I have had a piece accepted for an upcoming issue of RSPB Wingbeat.

When I'm not writing, I enjoy gardening for nature - so far I've created a wildflower area, a 'meadow' area and have put in a nature pond. You'll also find me tending to my garden birds, particularly the large colony of house sparrows and of course the local jackdaw clan.
